We presented Descriptive and Evaluative Meaning in Spanish Diminutive Prefixes: A Case Study of micro- and mini-.
Our study examines the semantics of the Spanish prefixes micro- and mini- using data from the Observatori de Neologia. We propose an evaluativeness scale in which micro- is descriptive and evaluatively neutral, -ito/a suffixes have a strong evaluative value, and mini- occupies an intermediate position that can be descriptive alone or both descriptive and evaluative.
